POLICY REGARDING PERSONAL INFORMATION ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB

With the advent of the personal computer, the internet, and the increased popularity of e-mail, personal websites, blogs, and popular social networking sites as modes of self-expression, there has come an increased risk of potential adverse outcomes. This is especially true as many individuals have MySpace, FaceBook, and other web based pages that may contain personal information available to the general public.

Recently this issue has been addressed by the Council of University Directors of Clinical Psychology (CUDCP) in an attempt to develop an awareness of potential risks and to minimize these risks for students, faculty, and graduate training programs.

The following downloadable .pdf file represents the programs present policy, as of this date, and will be available on the program website and in the forthcoming revision of the student handbook, as well as this blog.

As everyone in the program uses e-mail for purposes of communication, as some post to web blogs, and as many students may participate in existing social networking sites, it is prudent to pay close attention to and comply with the material included in this policy.
